RUBIN SINGER DESIGNS COSTUMES FOR THE BAND PERRY’S PERFORMANCE AT THE 48TH ANNUAL ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS
The Band Perry at 48th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards / Rubin Singer, couture designer based in New York, proudly announces that he is the designer behind the costumes worn by The Band Perry in their performance during the 48th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards, held last night at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV.
Singer’s collaboration with The Band Perry was the first time Singer worked with a country music band. Although this was certainly a new challenge for the designer, Singer was ready for the new experience and had countless design inspirations for the project.
The Band Perry wore Singer designs while performing their hit single “DONE.” on stage. Inspired by the lyrics and message of “DONE.”, the direction for the the group’s costuming is an edgy modern Rock N’ Roll feel, infused with a military high fashion twist- all in black. Each member worked closely with the designer in the development of their respective and overall look.
Kimberly wore a strapless, paneled, leather and silk faille dress paired with a sleeveless tuxedo jacket with a cut out back and strapping made of the same materials. In both pieces the leather was pleated, stitched, woven and stripped. Reid wore a kid skin leather shirt, on which the shoulders and sleeves were detailed with braided leather cording. Neil wore a lambskin leather moto jacket with a matte python trim.
Singer was first approached by The Band Perry to design costumes for their ACM performance back in February. Working with Kimberly, Reid, and Neil Perry (drums/accordion/ mandolin/background vocalist) was an exciting venture for the designer. The project allowed Singer to expand on his line for women, but also presented him with an incredible opportunity to further delve into his menswear line. This project truly allowed Singer to showcase the versatility of his creations. RS
